Frequently Asked Questions
Is Alpha really free?

Yes! Alpha is completely free to attend. We provide dinner each week as part of the program at no cost to you. The goal is to remove barriers so that anyone who wants to explore faith can do so.

Are dietary restrictions accommodated?

Generally, we're not able to accommodate individual dietary restrictions. That said, our cooks will make it a priority to have at least one gluten-free item on the menu each week. If you'd like to plan ahead, just ask and we can give you at least a day's notice of what's being served — and you're always welcome to bring your own food as a substitute.

Do I need to know anything about Christianity to attend?

Not at all! Alpha is designed for people of all backgrounds and levels of faith—from those new to Christianity to longtime Catholics. There's no expectation of prior knowledge. All questions are welcome and encouraged.

Can I bring a friend?

Absolutely! Bring friends, family members, or anyone you think might be interested in exploring faith. Alpha is a wonderful opportunity to share your faith journey with others and discover together.

What if I miss a session?

It's okay if you miss a session! While consistency helps you get the most out of Alpha, we understand that life happens. Each session stands somewhat on its own, and the small group community is forgiving and supportive.

Do I need to attend the Alpha Weekend if I sign up for Alpha?

Weekend attendance is not mandatory, and each year there are participants whose scheduling conflicts keep them from making it. That said, we firmly believe the Alpha Weekend is one of the most impactful parts of the entire Alpha experience, and we strongly encourage everyone who signs up to do their best to work it into their schedule.

Is there pressure to commit to anything?

No. Alpha is pressure-free. You're free to come and go as you're able, ask questions without judgment, and take the experience at your own pace. There's no expectation to agree with anything or make commitments.
